Integrated Electrical Solutions is a licensed New Jersey electrical contractor founded by Corey Gilman. With more than 14 years of experience, we provide residential and commercial electrical services throughout Mercer County, including Hamilton, Trenton, Princeton, Ewing, Lawrence, West Windsor, Robbinsville, East Windsor, Hopewell, and surrounding communities. Mercer County has some of the oldest housing stock in central New Jersey. Trenton rowhomes and Princeton historic homes sit a few miles from post-war Hamilton neighborhoods and newer West Windsor and Robbinsville developments. Our work here reflects that range: knob-and-tube and legacy panel replacement, capacity upgrades for modern loads, and careful work in older and historic homes.
We handle the full range of electrical work Mercer County homes and businesses need, with particular depth in these areas:
Many Mercer County homes still run on 60-amp or 100-amp services, fuse boxes, or panels that were never designed for today's loads. We upgrade services to 200 amps (and 200 to 400 amps for larger homes), replace Federal Pacific Stab-Lok and Zinsco panels, convert fuse boxes, and prepare panels for generators and EV chargers. A typical job covers the panel, meter work when required, grounding and bonding, labeling, and coordination with the utility and inspector. These upgrades are especially common in Hamilton, Ewing, and Lawrence homes adding heat pumps, finished basements, or Level 2 chargers.
Knob-and-tube wiring is still found in older Trenton, Princeton, Hamilton, and Pennington homes, often spliced into later additions. We also see cloth-insulated cable, aluminum branch wiring from roughly 1965 to 1973, and ungrounded two-prong circuits. We plan rewires to minimize wall and plaster damage, and handle partial rewiring during renovations when a full rewire isn't practical yet.
Whole-home standby generators and automatic transfer switches are frequent requests after extended outages, particularly in wooded Hopewell, Lawrence, and Princeton neighborhoods where tree damage takes down lines. We size the generator to the home's actual loads, install the transfer switch, and pair the job with a panel upgrade when the existing service can't support both.
Breakers that keep tripping, lights that flicker when the HVAC starts, warm outlets, or half the house losing power. We find the cause whether overloaded circuits, loose connections, failing breakers, or problems inside the panel. Instead of just resetting the breaker.
Interior and exterior lighting, weather-rated GFCI-protected outdoor receptacles, landscape and security lighting, and pool and spa electrical work that meets bonding and GFCI requirements.
Hardwired, interconnected smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, including the upgrades often required at resale.
Tenant fit-outs, lighting retrofits, dedicated equipment circuits, and service upgrades for offices, retail, and light-industrial spaces along the Route 1, Route 130, and Route 33 corridors.
We prioritize urgent calls such as total or partial power loss, burning smells, sparking, and hot or buzzing panels, because these involve active safety risks. We also regularly serve Ocean, Monmouth, Burlington, Middlesex, Somerset, and other New Jersey counties. If your town isn't listed, call — chances are we cover it.
We also regularly serve parts of Essex, Union, Somerset, Burlington, and other New Jersey counties. If your town isn’t listed, just call — chances are we cover it.
Mercer County's mix of very old urban housing, post-war suburbs, and newer developments creates a recognizable set of issues. We regularly evaluate and correct the following:
Trenton rowhomes and twins, older Hamilton and Ewing neighborhoods, and historic homes in Princeton, Pennington, and Hopewell Borough often still have knob-and-tube wiring, 60-amp services, and fuse boxes. Decades of add-on circuits, ungrounded outlets, and amateur splices are common. Plaster walls and historic trim call for careful routing so upgrades don't damage the home's character.
Much of Hamilton, Ewing, Lawrence, and East Windsor was built in this era. We frequently find Federal Pacific Stab-Lok and Zinsco panels, marginal 100-amp services, aluminum branch wiring, and incomplete grounding. Many insurers flag or decline these panels at policy renewal or resale.
Homes built in the 1980s through early 2000s in West Windsor, Robbinsville, Hopewell Township, and East Windsor are newer, but many were built with 150- or 200-amp services sized before EV chargers, heat pumps, and home offices. Adding a Level 2 charger or converting from gas often requires a load calculation and sometimes a service upgrade.
Mature tree canopy in Princeton, Lawrence, and Hopewell means outages after summer storms and nor'easters. Damaged service drops, surge damage, and the need for reliable backup power are recurring concerns.
In Hopewell Township and other rural parts of the county, we handle long service runs, well pump circuits, detached garages, barns, and workshops that need properly sized feeders and grounding. These are not abstract risks. They affect insurability, resale, renovation plans, and day-to-day safety. A proper evaluation identifies what is present and what actually needs attention.
We have worked throughout central New Jersey for more than 14 years, and Mercer County is a straight shot from our Jackson Township base via I-195. Our New Jersey electrical contractor license is #34EB01852700. Local factors we routinely handle include:
We perform the evaluation and the corrective work under one licensed contractor. Recommendations are based on observed conditions, load calculations, and code, not an upsell list. When a panel is serviceable and capacity is adequate, we say so.
We regularly work in Hamilton, Trenton, Princeton, Ewing, Lawrence, West Windsor, East Windsor, Robbinsville, Hopewell Township, Hopewell Borough, Pennington, and Hightstown, along with surrounding communities. If your town is not listed, call — we cover the entire county.
Yes. We pull the required electrical permits and coordinate inspections with the construction office in the municipality where the work is done.
Yes. We evaluate how much knob-and-tube remains, what it is connected to, and whether a full or phased rewire makes sense. We route new wiring to limit damage to plaster and trim.
Yes. We plan interior work to protect original finishes. For exterior changes such as meter or service relocation, we coordinate with the homeowner on any local historic review before work begins.
Yes. Our assessments look for the panel, wiring, grounding, and capacity issues common in Mercer County's older homes and flag anything insurers or lenders are likely to raise.
It depends on your service size and existing loads. Many 100-amp homes need an upgrade; many 200-amp homes do not. A load calculation tells us which applies to your home.
Absolutely. We provide full residential and commercial electrical services in every county we cover.
